An invitation to the 2004 North Carolina Forestry Summit:
HELP SUSTAIN WORKING FORESTS

Working forests are vital to clean water & air, timber sustainability, wildlife habitat, and achieving the quality of life we have come to expect as citizens of North Carolina.

What financial, technical, and management advice is available for North Carolina's forestland owners? And what can be done to insure the healthy sustainability of forestlands in North Carolina?

The North Carolina Division of Forest Resources', in cooperation with several government and private organizations, will host two
FREE Forestry Summits during the Summer of 2004 to address these questions, and hear first-hand from forestland owners themselves how to tackle some of the issues in maintaining forest management as a practical alternative to other land uses.

Recent USDA-Forest Service data indicate that North Carolina lost nearly 1 million acres of forestland between 1990 to 2002, mostly due to urbanization and development. This Forestry Summit will provide information you can use to sustain your forestlands in North Carolina as working landscapes that protect the water, provide renewable resources, and preserves a way of life
